Our ABDM journey
ABHA Integrated Clinic & Hospital Software – ABDM Certified (M1, M2, M3)
How SoftClinic GenX became ABDM certified for M1, M2 and M3
A story in five chapters: from a crowded OPD front desk to an ABHA integrated clinic software that talks to the live ABDM network, free to start on the Physician App.
The front desk where it started
Picture a typical OPD morning. A patient hands over a folder of old prescriptions from three different hospitals. The receptionist types the same name, age and address that were typed at the last clinic. The doctor asks for a report the patient left at home. The lab result from last month lives on a WhatsApp screenshot.
India’s answer to this is the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), run by the National Health Authority: every patient gets an ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account), and every certified hospital or clinic can link its records to that ABHA and, with the patient’s consent, read what other facilities have recorded.
We did not want ABHA to be one more login or a separate bridge tool sitting next to the clinic software. We wanted it where the work actually happens: registration, consultation, prescription, lab and pharmacy, inside SoftClinic GenX. That decision set the whole journey.
Three milestones, one promise
ABDM does not certify software in one go. It certifies three milestones, and a clinic software is only fully useful when it holds all three. Here is what each one means at your desk.
ABHA creation and verification
Create a new ABHA with Aadhaar OTP or mobile OTP, verify an existing ABHA number or address, and attach it to the patient record so every later visit is already linked.
Health Information Provider
Your prescriptions, OPD notes and reports are packaged as standard FHIR records and linked to the patient’s ABHA, so they appear in the patient’s ABHA app.
Health Information User
Ask the patient for consent and fetch their records from other ABDM-linked hospitals and labs, then view them next to your own notes.
From sandbox to the live ABDM network
Built on ABDM API V3, inside the product
We implemented ABHA creation, record linking (HIP) and consent-based record fetching (HIU) on the current ABDM V3 APIs, as part of SoftClinic GenX rather than as a separate bridge your staff would have to switch to.
Every milestone exercised in the NHA sandbox
Each M1, M2 and M3 flow was run end to end in the National Health Authority’s sandbox: ABHA creation and verification, scan and share, linking care contexts, and consent requests across facilities.
Functional demonstration to the NHA review process
Our team demonstrated the complete ABHA workflow milestone by milestone as part of the National Health Authority’s review, on SoftClinic GenX version 1.5.2.
ABDM Certificate of Compliance: M1, M2 and M3
JVS Technologies Private Limited, the company behind SoftClinic GenX, completed ABDM compliance certification for all three milestones under the NHA’s ABDM programme.
Sandbox exit and production credentials
SoftClinic GenX completed the sandbox-exit process and received production credentials for the ABDM gateway. ABHA creation, record linking and consent-based sharing now run against the live ABDM network.
ABHA at every SoftClinic GenX front desk
The same certified workflow runs on every SoftClinic GenX plan, from the free Physician App to the paid hospital (HIMS) plan. Ask us for a copy of the certificate.
One patient visit, start to finish
This is what the journey was for. Here is how a visit looks once ABHA lives inside your clinic software.
Scan and share
The patient scans your clinic’s QR code from the ABHA app. Their name, age and address arrive at the counter. No retyping.
ABHA created or verified
A new patient gets an ABHA with Aadhaar or mobile OTP. A returning patient’s ABHA is verified and linked to their record.
Consult and prescribe
The doctor writes the prescription as usual. SoftClinic GenX links it to the patient’s ABHA as a standard FHIR record.
Records travel with the patient
The prescription shows in the patient’s ABHA app. At another ABDM-linked hospital, with consent, their doctor can fetch it, and you can fetch theirs.
What is free, and what is paid
Three SoftClinic GenX apps are free, with a fair-use policy: the Physician App, the Lab App and the Pharmacy App. ABHA creation, record linking and consent-based record access are included in them, not a paid add-on. Hospital software (HIMS) and every other module are paid plans. Consumables such as SMS, WhatsApp, email, OCR and telemedicine are charged from a prepaid wallet, so you pay only for what you use.
Running a multi-speciality hospital? The same certified platform powers the full ABDM certified hospital management software with IPD, laboratory and pharmacy, on cloud or on your own server.
Questions clinics ask us
Is SoftClinic GenX ABHA integrated?
Yes. ABHA creation, verification, record linking and consent-based record access are built in, and the integration is ABDM certified for M1, M2 and M3.
Can I create an ABHA ID for a patient from the software?
Yes. Use Aadhaar OTP or mobile OTP at registration; the ABHA is linked to the patient’s record automatically.
Do patients see their prescriptions in the ABHA app?
Yes. Records linked through SoftClinic GenX are available to the patient in any ABDM-compatible personal health record app, including the ABHA app.
Is the ABDM integration live, or still in sandbox?
Live. SoftClinic GenX completed the National Health Authority’s sandbox-exit process and holds production credentials for the ABDM gateway (October 2026).
Is ABDM integration free?
ABHA and ABDM features are included in the free Physician, Lab and Pharmacy Apps, with fair use; consumables are charged from the wallet. Hospital software (HIMS) and all other modules are paid plans. Contact us for anything specific to your facility.
